We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Digital Manager to join our team and lead communications campaign efforts at a national level, as well as in the states we work in. About Mothers Out Front

Mothers Out Front builds our power as mothers to ensure a livable climate for all children. We are building a multi-racial, cross-class, intergenerational movement of mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers dedicated to convincing elected officials and business leaders to work for a swift, complete, and just transition away from fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy. We know that mothers have an important role to play in the climate change movement, and when it comes to protecting their children, mothers are an unstoppable force for change. Our goal is simple: to enable mothers to take active leadership in climate change work by providing the structure, training, and tools for them to work together on campaigns in their communities and at the statewide level. 

 

Mothers Out Front is a grassroots organization working to build a movement across race and class. We work with and draw leadership from the frontline communities who are experiencing the worst effects of fossil fuels and climate change with particular attention to low-income communities and communities of color. The core of our work is organizing and our communications work is an essential partner in building power and winning campaigns. We believe that shifting the narrative in how we discuss climate change, its sources and solutions, is an essential component of our campaigns.

 

About the Role 

We are seeking a high performing, low ego, highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Digital Manager. You will manage our email and web infrastructure and strategy, be responsible for the overall success of our email program, track web and email metrics, and use analytics to inform strategy and campaign development. You are collaborative and a community builder who builds cross departmental relationships to execute email strategy and campaigns. You engage our members to mobilize them into action and grow our movement of moms. This is an opportunity for an impact-oriented communications professional to advance important climate justice campaigns and build mothers’ power to drive change. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Inform and execute email strategy, processes and best practices 
  • Train staff and members on email strategy and practices and ensure that all individuals understand and follow email processes and protocol.
  • Responsible for implementing digital strategy based on campaigns and organizing strategy; working in close partnership with the Distributed Organizing Manager, Digital Media Manager, Digital Campaigner, Grassroots and Events Manager, and others.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy Department by providing updates for proposals and reports and supporting grassroots fundraising campaigns.
  • Work as a liaison between our Campaigns & Organizing, Philanthropy, and Communications departments to ensure the overall success of our email program.
  • Management of the organizational website; maintaining security and functionality; working with Digital Media Manager, Campaigns & Organizing, and Philanthropy to ensure all content is up to date.
  • Create measurable quantitative and qualitative web and email goals, develop work plans, measure progress, and achieve departmental and individuals goals.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Accountable for the overall success of MOF’s email program. Project manage daily email sends; inform and execute the email strategy & process; train and support staff and member leaders in sending emails.
  • Oversee MOF website management. Inform and execute web strategy; manage updates; manage consultants.
  • Ideate and develop content for national email campaigns; write and edit emails and EveryAction content.
  • Create measurable web and email goals, develop work plans, measure progress, and achieve those goals.
  • Track and share metrics to ensure MOF meets all organization, campaign and department goals and Objectives & Key Results (OKRs). Assist staff and member leaders in developing analytics-driven content.
  • Project manage the MOF email program; work with staff and member leaders to coordinate email sends and protect the health of MOFs email lists.
  • Train, resource, and support staff and member leaders in developing email campaigns; ensure they understand email best practices, processes, and analytics.
  • Support staff in the creation of email and EveryAction content; ensure that all emails meet industry standards and best practices.
  • Work closely across teams to execute campaign strategies and achieve goals.

 

What You Will Need

  • Experience: A Digital Manager will have at least 6 years of communications experience in a social impact, advocacy or political organization, with preference for experience with climate and environmental issues.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience managing work groups with a proven track record of team building. Strong project management skills, coupled with sharp attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities; Demonstrable focus, resilience, and the problem-solving skill to develop solutions under challenging circumstances.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex and technical ideas into clear, compelling messages and the ability to write in many styles and for many diverse audiences.
  • Digital Tools & Skills: Previous experience managing a CRM (e.g. EveryAction), CMS (e.g. WordPress), and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) are must haves. Previous experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are nice to have.
  • Communications & Digital Tactics: Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive digital strategies, including email and web content. Experience training individuals on email and web tactics. Experience messaging to audiences of parents or caregivers is a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Build relationships and engage effectively with people from a variety of ethnic, racial, socio-economic, educational, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, as well as people of various physical abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and generations. Demonstrate self-awareness about how your identities may influence how you show up, interact with, and are perceived by others.
  • Issue Expertise: An understanding of how climate change disproportionately impacts low income and marginalized communities is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability and commitment to working with people from a variety of ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as varying religious, educational, generational, and gender identity backgrounds. 

 

Details: Mothers Out Front is a fully remote organization. Candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S. and will work from a home office. This is a full-time position.

 

Salary and benefits: The salary range for a Digital Manager is $78,000 - $83,000, depending on experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, flexible spending plan, paid vacation, holidays, sick days, and support for remote work set-up.
