A Brief Overview
Reporting to the Director of Legislative Risk Management, the Legislative Risk Management Associate is responsible for supporting government relations, research, policy analysis, and activities related to advancing prioritized policy objectives. The Associate will support the Director in the coordination of legislative and regulatory efforts with state and federal government agencies, and all branches of the federal government, specific committee and member offices, as well as perform research and support the development of internal and external communications.

What you will do

  • Assists the Director in the planning, implementation, and management of risk management programs.
  • Supports the development of outreach and political strategies to resolve issues and advance Company initiatives.
  • Supports research efforts and monitors legislation, identifying developments within the government that could affect the organization.
  • Assists the Director in monitoring federal, regional, state, and local governmental meetings, ordinances, and initiatives; identifying key issues, trends or areas of interest that the Company should address or be aware of.
  • Supports the Director in developing and executing an outreach plan that maximizes the Company’s exposure in the industry through support of relationship building with local government, business and regulatory bodies.
  • Supports the management and monitoring of regulatory activities, applications, processing and filings.
  • Supports the Director in conducting external research and drafting policies including writing papers, reports, and research summaries for internal and external audiences.
  • Under the direction of the Director, gains an understanding of potential legal and cultural barriers to the Company’s goals.
  • Assists the Director in scheduling meetings with Congressional and Federal agency contacts in coordination with contracted Advocacy consultants.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Public Policy, Public Relations and/or Public Administration or similar field Required
  • 1-3 years years of experience working in Public Policy, Public Infrastructure and/or Public Private Partnership or related Legal environment. Required
  • Detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy in work product.
  • Demonstrated experience in analytical thinking, critical thinking and research techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with attention to detail in written and verbal communication.
  • High level of organization, multitasking and ability to effectively work in a team atmosphere adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to succinctly and accurately present information (verbally as well as in writing) and respond to questions from all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask and comfort escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, service oriented, team player; ability to work independently but also thrive in a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
  • Results oriented with strong project management and execution skills.
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels in the organization as well as government and industry professionals.
